Public Private Dailogue (PPD) Secrtariate is to be established very soon, Ato Yayehyirade Abat, Manager for Advocacy at the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations dis closed.
The Secretariate is aimed at creating conducive situations that enables the private sector in our country to be a vibrant that can contribute its share to the effort being made to alleviate the abject poverty by bringing about a speedy economic development in the country.
According to Ato Yayehyirade Abat, an adhoc committee comprising members from the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Assocviations, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the United Nations Development Program, World Bank and International Financial Corpration has been established to facilitate the establishment of the PPD Secretariat.
The adhoc committee undertakes various activities among others are employing human resource for the secretariat, furnishing it with necessary office furniture and Equipment and through the provision of induction training for employees, Ato Yayehyirade Abat indicated.
This committee has commenced its activities by adopting its action plan to undertake activties that the committee is expected to handle from November 2009 to February 2010, he added.
The Secretariate which is accountable to the Board of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations has a five-year tenure and it discharges the following major duties.
1. Plan and execute the works of the secrtariate and submit reports of its perfformance.
2. Initiates, participates and coordinate to conduct studies that Aassist in the identification of trade, industry and investment bottlenecks and reports the implementation of the same.
3. through consultation with dialogue fopra coordinating units submit for thedecision of the board at which dialogue forum the findings of studies may be appropriate to be considered,and executed in accordance with decisions and guideline given.
